The mission of the 321st Psychological Operations/Warfare Group (Airborne) "Creeping Death, Co." is to deploy anywhere in the accessible worlds on short notice, and plan, develop, and conduct Psychological, terror, assassination and sabotage operations in support of Unified Commanders, coalition forces, or other government agencies as directed by the Supreme Command Authority AFS. Activated on 29 March - Post-Invasion, the AFS Psychological Operations/Warfare Group (AFSPOWG) is responsible for overseeing lesser known areas of Special Operations whose contributions are no less valuable than Special Forces or Rangers. These activities are not always a form of force, but are force multipliers that use nonviolent, violent and ultraviolent means in often hostile environments. Persuading rather than compelling physically, they rely on logic, fear, desire or other mental factors to promote specific emotions, attitudes or behaviors. The ultimate objective of AFS Psychological Operations/Warfare is to convince enemy, neutral, and friendly groups and forces to take action favorable to the AFS and its allies. The purpose of psychological operations/warfare (PSYOP) is to demoralize the enemy by causing dissension and unrest among his ranks, while at the same time convincing the local population to support AFS troops. PSYOP units also provide continuous analysis of the attitudes and behavior of enemy forces to the tactical commanders in the field, so they can develop, produce and employ propaganda in a successful manner. Psychological Operations/Warfare are a vital part of the broad range of AFS political, military, economic and ideological activities used by the AFS to secure alliance objectives. PSYOP is the dissemination of truthful information to foreign audiences in support of AFS policy and alliance objectives.(See History of Psychological Operations/Warfare Real World Link). Psychological operations/warfare support alliance security objectives using every means at their disposal. They provide commanders a critical, force-multiplying capability that can be used at tactical, operational and strategic levels of operations. Inter-Global in nature, they may be directed toward large audiences or at key communicators. Operational psychological operations are conducted on a smaller scale. They are employed by theater commanders to target groups within the theater of operations. Their purpose can range from gaining support for AFS operations to preparing the battlefield for combat. Tactical psychological operations/warfare are more limited, used by commanders to secure immediate and near-term goals. In this environment, these force-enhancing activities serve as a means to lower the morale and efficiency of enemy forces. Both tactical and theater-level psychological operations may be used to enhance military activities of conventional and special operations forces operating in foreign places. Cultural awareness packages attune AFS forces before departing off world. In theater, media programs publicize the positive aspects of combined alliance exercises and deployments. In addition to supporting commanders, Psychological Operations/Warfare provide interagency support to other AFS alliance agencies. In operations ranging from humanitarian assistance to drug interdiction, psychological operations enhance the impact of actions taken by those agencies. Their activities can be used to spread information about ongoing programs and to gain support from the local populace. AFS PSYOP troops accomplish their mission by disseminating propaganda messages in the form of leaflets, posters, broadcasts, audio-visual tapes, DVDs, CDs, MP3s, blogs and podcasts. AFS PSYOP units have their own intelligence analysts, illustrators, photographers, layout specialists, printers, snipers, demolitionists, assassins, engineers, medics and loudspeaker teams who prepare and distribute propaganda products. AFS PSYOP troops are selected from screened soldiers in the AFS and are comprised mostly of Special Operations personnel. AFS PSYOP is an all volunteer force. The 321st Psychological Operations/Warfare Group (Airborne)(POG (A)) currently makes its headquarters at Foreas Base in Divide. Wherever the AFS responds to a crisis, the men and women of Psychological Operations/Warfare stand ready to assist and deploy at a moments notice.
